Community Organizations


Our mission is to provide community support that reaches a wide spectrum of people and contributes to the quality of life in the communities we serve. Ledyard National Bank contributes to a broad range of organizations, activities, and events that enhance the unique aspects of living in the Dartmouth/Lake Sunapee region. Profiled below are several of these organizations and their mission statements:

Alice Peck Day – The mission of Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital is to:

  • Provide patient-focused health care services that are responsive to community needs
  • Promote wellness

American Cancer Society/Relay for Life - The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.

Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society's signature activity. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length.

Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust – Since 1987, the ASLPT's mission is to preserve the rural landscape of the Mt. Kearsarge/Lake Sunapee region.

CHaD– To provide the highest quality health care and comfort the ill, to prevent illness and injury among the well, and to advance pediatric health care through education, research, the improvement of clinical care, and the provision of advocacy in the interest of children and their families.

Dartmouth Athletics – Dartmouth College and its Athletic Department are committed to providing an extraordinary variety of athletic opportunities that meet the talents, interests and needs of a broad range of individuals.The purpose of all Athletic Department activities is to foster and compliment the overall academic and intellectual growth of Dartmouth students and provide experiences that will enable them to interact in a special way with other students, test their own personal limits, and gain from the demands and realities of athletic competition and the success and adversity that go with it.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center – Campaign Overview: We are forging solutions for many of the nation's most critical healthcare issues: developing better ways to care for an aging population; improving lives for those with chronic illnesses; reshaping a healthcare system fraught with increasing cost and decreasing access; creating new, smart models of care that put decisions back in the hands of physicians and patients; and translating research results more quickly for the benefit of patients. David's House – To provide a home-away-from-home and support for families with children receiving treatment through Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Friends of Norris Cotton Cancer Center – The Friends is dedicated to supporting the services provided by Norris Cotton Cancer Center, a world-renowned cancer treatment and research facility affiliated with Dartmouth Medical School and the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Volunteers raise money, produce events, conduct community education programs and support patient services in an effort to find a cure for cancer.

Grafton County Senior Citizens Council – Grafton County Senior Citizens Council works throughout the region to make sure that older members of the community receive services that help them remain independent in their own homes for as long as possible.

Granite United Way - Granite United Way is committed to investing in the areas of the community with the most critical needs - education, income and health. By focusing on these investment initiatives, they are helping people in a new way; they are breaking negative cycles and tackling the root causes of problems to create lasting change.

Hand to Heart Project
– The Hand to Heart Project is a nonprofit program that provides massage therapy to people with advanced cancer, in their homes and at no charge. Hannah House, Inc. – The purpose of Hannah House is to support pregnant and parenting youth in developing independence and making healthy parenting choices, thereby promoting the well-being of themselves and their children. We serve clients and their babies from both New Hampshire and Vermont.

Hanover Rotary Charities – The Hanover Rotary Club is part of Rotary International, a worldwide association of clubs, whose mission is to provide service to others, to promote high ethical standards, and to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace though its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. More than 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 32,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries. The members of Hanover Rotary are proud to support local charities, college scholarships, and international projects.

Hopkins Center – The mission of the Hopkins Center is to ignite and sustain a passion for the arts within the Dartmouth community and to provide the core educational environment for the study, creation and presentation of the arts.

Kearsarge Council on Aging – Founded in 1992, COA responds to an unmet need in the area community; namely, providing access to senior related resources. Beginning with basic needs of transportation, health related resources, social and service programs, COA has grown to a full time senior center, meeting many varied and daily needs of area elders. COA serves the residents in Andover, Danbury, Grantham, Newbury, New London, Springfield, Sunapee, Sutton and Wilmot.

Lake Sunapee Protective Association – LSPA (Lake Sunapee Protective Association) is a non-profit environmental educational organization founded in 1898 that works year-round to maintain the quality of Lake Sunapee and its watershed. LSPA's educational outreach is to all residents, lake users, students and visitors in the Lake Sunapee region. LSPA has over 1000 family and business members who support LSPA financially and volunteer as weed-watchers, water monitors, lake hosts or on a variety of committees.

We provide personal financial education by giving people the tools and knowledge they need to improve and maintain their financial stability—now and in the future.

New Hampshire Center for Public Policy Studies – The New Hampshire Center for Public Policy Studies is an independent, nonpartisan organization that pursues data-based research on public policy matters, develops options, informs policy makers and advises them about choices for action. The Center's mission is to raise new ideas and improve policy debates through quality information and analysis on issues shaping New Hampshire's future.

New London Barn Playhouse – The Barn Playhouse, founded in 1933, is a prominent summer-stock theater that provides nightly entertainment throughout the summer months. The playhouse produces dramas and musicals as well as special productions for children. It is New Hampshire's longest operating summer theater.

Special Olympics New Hampshire – The Mission of Special Olympics New Hampshire is to provide year-round participation in sports training and athletic competition in a variety of well-coached Olympic-type sports for all individuals with mental challenges by providing athletes with continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness skills, express courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of talents, skills and friendship with their families, friends, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

West Central Behavioral Health – West Central Behavioral Health's mission is to promote, preserve and strengthen the mental health and quality of life in our community.
